This edition of Along the Web is a compilation of some of the more interesting material on volunteer involvement that we have encountered during the first half of 2008. Among the listing are items on background screening of volunteers, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered) volunteers, mental health and social inclusion through volunteers, leadership in all-volunteer groups and, from New Zealand, the most comprehensive survey ever done of volunteer expenses and tax deductions. As usual, we’ve included brief quotations of some of the more interesting parts of each report.
