NCAVA provides education and leadership towards effective volunteer
management in North Carolina. Incorporated in 1974, NCAVA is a nonprofit,
professional development, membership organization, governed by a volunteer
board of directors. Since 1995, NCAVA has administered a certification
program for professional volunteer administrators. To become certified
requires professional experience, education and training, documented
leadership at the local level, and competency in the basics of volunteer
program administration as measured by a written exam. NCAVA
and its affiliates regularly sponsor workshops on topics related to
volunteer program management and host a statewide conference
